Elmwood Village

For the longest time, Elmwood Village has been one of Buffalo’s most popular neighborhoods, and for good reason. Unlike the suburbs, where you mostly have to drive to get to things, Elmwood Village is very walkable, and people love this aspect about it. To the south of Elmwood Village is Allentown/downtown and to the north is Buffalo State College and Delaware Park, the city’s premier park. Elmwood Village is centrally located if you want to live somewhere where you’re never too far from “things.”

Back in 2007, Elmwood Village was named one of the Top 10 Great Places in America by the American Planning Association. Perhaps it’s because you can conveniently find 300 small local shops, coffeehouses, bars, restaurants and art galleries along Elmwood Ave. and its nearby streets– all in a walkable area filled with interesting sights, sounds and smells. Neighborhood residents love their producers-only farmers market which runs every Saturday from mid-May through the end of November at the spot where Elmwood meets Bidwell Parkway. This is also the site of the annual free summer concert series.
